Educationist urges parents to encourage sports talents

SANGO – OTA Ogun (Sundiata Scholar) – Dr Mike Fatukasi, the Principal of Adedokun International Schools, Sango-Ota, Ogun, has advised parents to encourage their children with sports potentialities to develop them.

Fatukasi gave the advice during the school’s 15th Inter-House Sports Competition on Saturday.

He said that the advice had become necessary because there was huge financial reward in sports globally.

According to him, the inter-house sports is aimed to discover sports talents and nuture them.

The educationist said that parents would need to encourage their children displaying potential in sports for a bright future.

He reiterated the commitment of the school to encouraging students with potential in sports so as to develop such talents to fulfill their destines.

“We have discovered that some children are not too good in academics but very good in sporting activities, and a way to discover such talented students is through inter-house sports competitions.

“Why don’t we encourage such students who have potential in one sporting activity or the other and develop them?” he asked.

Fatukasi said that such students would be sources of pride to their parents, schools and the nation.

Earlier, in his address of welcome, Mr Niyi Adedokun, Chairman of Adedokun International Schools, said that the inter-house sports competition was meant to discover sports talents among the students.

Adedokun said that the school was among the best private schools in Ogun.

He said that apart from academic excellence, the school had won the Milo Basketball Competition in the past 10 years in Ogun.

Orange House emerged first, Blue House came second while Purple secured the third position.
