EFCC apprehends 25 BUK undergraduates over alleged internet crime

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody 25 individuals suspected of internet fraud in a sting operation carried out in Kano.

The commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed this in a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Oyewale stated that the suspects were apprehended on Monday, opposite Bayero University Kano (BUK) New Site, in Kano.

According to him, their arrest followed credible intelligence indicating their suspected involvement in cybercrime-related activities.

“All suspects apprehended are confirmed to be undergraduate students of BUK.”

“Items recovered during the operation include mobile phones, laptops, internet routers and one Honda Accord car,” he said.

He explained that the arrest came after weeks of surveillance tied to their alleged participation in online fraud, identity theft, and financial scams.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations,” he said.
