Fasoranti Urges Speedy Establishment of FUTA Teaching Hospital

The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has called for the prompt establishment of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital.
Fasoranti urged Akure indigenes to play an active role in ensuring the swift commencement and efficient functioning of the teaching hospital, which has long been an aspiration for the community.
The Federal Government recently granted approval for the FUTA Teaching Hospital, and President Bola Tinubu appointed Prof. Olusegun Ojo as its first Chief Medical Director, with his tenure beginning on March 5.
Expressing his appreciation to President Tinubu for granting the approval, Fasoranti underscored the need for all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in bringing the hospital project to fruition.
“I am calling on sons and daughters of Akure-speaking communities to support and ensure the successful take-off and smooth running of the hospital during my lifetime,” Fasoranti stated during a visit by the Akure Community Central Planning Committee for the establishment of the hospital, led by Dr. Olufemi Oyinsan.
Oyinsan, who heads the planning committee, also welcomed the federal government’s endorsement and the appointment of Prof. Ojo as the CMD.
He expressed optimism that the approval would finally lead to the long-awaited realization of the teaching hospital, which has been a cherished goal of the Akure community for the past twenty years.
He further urged the federal government to expedite the necessary administrative and executive processes to facilitate the immediate commencement of the hospital’s operations.
Oyinsan also praised key figures, including the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi; the Minister for Health, Prof. Ali Pate; and the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for their dedication to the project.
He acknowledged that the Akure community had been advocating for the establishment of a teaching hospital for a long time, and he credited the involvement of President Tinubu and the continued presence of Pa Fasoranti as instrumental in making this dream a reality.
“Indigenes of Akure have been pursuing this project for nearly two decades, long before many of us got involved. But God favoured us by putting President Tinubu in office and also preserved the life of our father, Pa Fasoranti,” Oyinsan said
