Fed Poly Oko seeks NBTE Accreditation for 9 Academic Programmes

Federal Polytechnic Oko has applied for the accreditation of nine academic programmes through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in a bid to grow its portfolio of officially recognized courses.

The programmes submitted for inspection and validation include the National Diploma (ND) in Marketing and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Hospitality Management and Technology, as well as Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) with Biochemistry and Biochemistry/Microbiology specializations, HND Surveying & Geo-Informatics Technology, HND Mechanical Engineering Technology, HND Horticultural Technology, Geological Technology, and HND Agricultural Technology.

During the course of the accreditation visit, the Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, welcomed 38 NBTE team members and subject experts, sharing her confidence that the school would fulfill all requirements for accreditation.

Dr. Awuzie, represented by the Deputy Rector Academic, Dr. Uche Onyegbu, pointed out the institution’s strong relationship with NBTE and disclosed that more programmes were scheduled to be submitted for accreditation in the upcoming quarter.

Representatives from NBTE praised the polytechnic for its development efforts, especially noting the “outstanding hospitality management facilities” and its “efforts in entrepreneurship.” They also pointed out some “areas for improvement” and encouraged “openness and collaboration from department heads.”

The accreditation visit included the attendance of top academic figures, such as principal officers, deans, directors, and heads of departments.
