The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has reiterated the federal government’s dedication to revitalising polytechnic education by equipping federal polytechnics to produce skilled graduates capable of meeting the demands of Nigeria’s evolving economy.
Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of a one-storey lecture room and laboratory building, alongside the procurement of laboratory equipment at Federal Polytechnic Bali in Taraba State, Alausa, represented by Dr Ejeh Usman, Director of Polytechnic Education and Allied Institutions, revealed that the government allocated N390 million for the project.
Alausa emphasised that the newly constructed facilities and equipment will significantly enhance practical learning and research activities at the polytechnic.
The project, executed under the NEEDS Assessment Revitalisation Fund, aims to provide a conducive environment for lectures and hands-on sessions.
He noted that Federal Polytechnic Bali is the second beneficiary of this initiative, following Kaduna Polytechnic.
“The facility will boost Federal Polytechnic Bali’s capacity for hands-on technical training and also facilitate innovative research and development. The facility will also prepare students for real-world challenges by giving them access to modern tools and technology. It is the hope of the federal government that the facilities will contribute greatly to the advancement of Federal Polytechnic Bali,” Alausa said.
He further underscored the federal government’s unwavering commitment to prioritising education as a cornerstone of national development, urging the institution’s management to ensure effective use, maintenance, and sustainability of the new facilities.
Dr Mohammed Usman, Rector of Federal Polytechnic Bali, expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education for implementing the project, highlighting that the facilities will greatly enhance learning and research activities at the polytechnic.
