FG Allocates N5.7bn for Development Projects at Federal University of Health Sciences, Funtua


The sum of N5.7 billion has been allocated by the Federal Government for capital development projects at the Federal University of Health Sciences, situated in Funtua, Katsina State.
Muntari Dandutse, who chairs the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, revealed this information to journalists on Saturday in Katsina.
“We are grateful to Allah that N5.7 billion was appropriated for capital projects in 2025 for the university, TETFund takeoff grant is N5 billion and the normal intervention is N2.9 billion,” he said.
Senator Dandutse, who also represents Katsina South in the Senate, explained that the Federal Government had already put in place the Vice-Chancellor along with the institution’s Governing Council.
He mentioned that the university’s management is currently making arrangements to hire additional support staff for the institution.
As stated by him, the institution is projected to commence its academic activities by September, 2025.
He further explained that the university is intended to act as a driver of educational advancement in the North-West region and will admit students not only from within the zone but also from nearby states.
The senator further highlighted that the Katsina State Government has committed roughly N3 billion to facilitate the university’s smooth takeoff within the set timeframe.
Mr Dandutse also mentioned that plans are underway for the government to set up JAMB CBT centres in the remaining eight local government areas within the constituency.
Additionally, he disclosed that the Federal Government intends to implement independent solar power systems in all public universities throughout the nation.
The senator emphasized that this initiative would help ensure stable electricity supply in these institutions, thereby improving the teaching and learning environment.
