FG starts recruiting teachers for the “Build-A-Thon” scheme

The Build-A-Thon initiative programme of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy has announced the opening of applications for teaching positions.

The Ministry made this announcement on Thursday on their “X” handle.

According to Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, the plan was introduced earlier in December and will encourage senior secondary students to adopt technology early.

It is anticipated that 1,500 pupils from 150 schools in three locations—Owerri, Maiduguri, and Abeokuta—will participate in the four-day session in January 2024.

The ministry went on to say that the ideal applicants would be forward-thinking instructors, visionaries, and enthusiasts who could mentor secondary school students who will be the next wave of tech pioneers.

Prospective teachers and eligible applicants are urged by the government to apply through the program’s website.

“The Build-A-Thon initiative is part of our strategic plan to promote early-technology adoption to shape tomorrow’s innovation leaders,” the minister said in response to the program’s recent introduction.

He went on to say that the program’s overarching objectives include exhibiting creative ideas, honouring accomplishments, encouraging future teamwork, motivating future leaders, and encouraging lifelong learning.
