FG warns students, parents about fraudulent NELFUND loan portal
The Federal Government has issued a warning regarding a fake student loan application website being circulated online under the guise of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
In an official advisory released on Tuesday through NELFUND’s verified X account, the agency urged students, parents, and guardians to ignore the fraudulent portal and only make use of the legitimate website for interest-free student loan applications.
The advisory stated: “Please be advised: A fake NELFUND student loan portal is being circulated online.
“To all students, parents, and guardians, the ONLY official website for interest-FREE NELFUND applications is: http://nelf.gov.ng.
“Don’t fall for scams. Avoid clicking on suspicious links. If in doubt, verify before you act.”
This alert was issued in response to increasing demand for student loans following the launch of the government’s education financing initiative aimed at assisting students in tertiary institutions.
