FULafia Governing Council Approves Tenure Extensions for Bursar and Librarian
In its 6th Extraordinary Meeting, the Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) approved a one-year tenure extension for the university’s bursar, Dr. Daniel Anjola Wilson, and the university librarian, Professor Abiodun Olaide Iyoro.
This decision aligns with Section 5, Subsection 5 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act, 2012, which allows the Council to extend the tenures of key university officers under specific conditions that promote institutional continuity and strategic needs.
The Registrar of FULafia, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, stated that the Council approved the Bursar’s extension to maintain continuity in financial and administrative activities, enable the completion of ongoing automation initiatives, and assist the newly formed Governing Council in familiarising itself with the university’s financial framework.
Dr. Wilson was commended for his exceptional leadership in the financial administration of FULafia, having strengthened fiscal operations and upheld responsible financial practices.
His extended tenure, originally set to end on May 5, 2025, will now conclude on May 4, 2026.
Similarly, the Council extended Professor Iyoro’s term as University Librarian, citing the importance of stability in academic administration, completion of key projects, including faculty e-resource libraries, and the mentoring of the incoming librarian to ensure a smooth transition.
Professor Iyoro was recognised for his innovative leadership, which contributed to the accreditation of 98% of the university’s programmes and the advancement of faculty e-libraries.
Consequently, Professor Iyoro’s tenure, initially ending on July 2, 2025, will now extend until July 1, 2026, to support his continued contributions to FULafia’s growth.
