FUPRE Gains NUC Approval to Launch BSc Programmes

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has officially obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence new undergraduate programmes under its College of Petroleum Administration and Management, starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The newly sanctioned programmes consist of B.Sc. degrees in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Petroleum Information Management, and Entrepreneurship. Following an in-depth review conducted by experts from the NUC, it was established that FUPRE possesses the required resources to successfully run these programmes, ensuring that students acquire essential competencies needed to succeed in sectors crucial to Nigeria’s economic advancement.

In a correspondence dated 25th February 2025 and directed to the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Secretary of the NUC affirmed: “After careful consideration, the Executive Secretary has approved the establishment of the full-time mode for the following programs to be offered at the university’s main campus, effective from the 2024/2025 academic session: B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management, B.Sc. Procurement Management, B.Sc. Petroleum Information Management, and B.Sc. Entrepreneurship.”

The Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh FNES, voiced his appreciation to the NUC for their trust in FUPRE, highlighting, “This approval is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver globally competitive education. These new programs are carefully designed to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals in logistics and supply chain management, procurement, petroleum information management, and entrepreneurship. We are excited to see our students lead and innovate in these vital sectors.”

He further stated that with the launch of these programmes, FUPRE is ready to play a substantial role in shaping the educational landscape by providing students with opportunities to gain specialized knowledge in fields essential to Nigeria’s economic progress. These courses will prepare graduates with the critical expertise required to excel in the evolving sectors of logistics and supply chain management, procurement, energy management, and entrepreneurship.
