FUTMinna Vice chancellor commends Igbo Staff Association for impacting the university




The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala fsssn has commended the Igbo Staff Association (ISA) for making their impact felt in the institution. 

Prof. Bala gave the commendation today at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus when officials of the association donated two cartons of hand sanitizers to the University.

The VC who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yahaya Ahmed Iyaka, recalled that the association had in March this year embarked on a clean-up exercise in the University and expressed appreciation for their kind gesture.

He assured that the sanitizers will be appropriately used, especially in the light of the second wave of COVID-19 that the society is now faced with.

Decrying the increasing loss of the sense of humanity to tribal and religious sentiments in the society, he pointed out that to the credit of the donors, the end users of the items could be people of different persuasions.

Earlier, Chairman of the association, Dr. Ikechukwu Diugwu, disclosed that ISA, an umbrella body of Igbo staff working in FUT, Minna, has as part of its objectives, to contribute towards the development of their immediate environment, adding that the donation was part of the commitment.

He recalled that the Association had in March embarked on a cleaning exercise of the environment, adding that the donation of the hand sanitizers is part of their support for the Managements effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

He thanked God for the numerous blessings upon the VC and the University and prayed for his continued guidance and protection as he discharges his responsibilities.

The Chairman also assured of their members’ continued commitment and dedication to their responsibilities in the University as well as their resolve to be good ambassadors of the institution. Principal Officers at the occasion were: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Emmanuel Emeka Udensi; Registrar, Mr. Amos Nmadu Kolo; Bursar, Mrs. Hadiza Goje and Ag. University Librarian, Dr. Abubakar Mohammed Bitagi. Other ISA officials present were: Vice-Chairman, Engr. Prof. Elizabeth Onwuka; Secreatry General, Mr. Mike Ozor; Treasurer, Prof. Caroline Nsofor; Financial Secretary, Arc. Dr, Anthony Eze; Welfare Officer, Mrs. Anthonia Eze and Public Relations Officer, Ugboaja Stanley.
