Gov Muftwang dissolves PLASU governing council, sacks VC
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has dismissed Professor Bernard Matur Malau as vice chancellor and dissolved the governing council of Plateau State University, Bokkos, effective immediately, as part of his efforts to reposition Plateau’s tertiary institutions.
A statement from Mr. Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government, states that Pankshin, the College of Health Technology in Zawan, the College of Education in Gindiri, and Plateau State Polytechnic in Barkin Ladi are among the other tertiary institutions impacted.
Although the statement did not specify the cause for their dismissal, it is possible that their appointment during the previous administration had some bearing on it.
It further stipulated that all individuals who are removed of their positions must promptly transfer their responsibilities to the next highest ranking official in their respective institutions.
In addition, the Governor has approved the cancellation of recruitments earlier conducted by Tertiary Institutions in October, 2022 and early 2023 that have been under suspension.
The State government also pointed out that applications for an all-inclusive recruitment for all tertiary institutions would be advertised.
