Bauchi State Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the educational system.
Given the importance of education, the governor emphasised that it will be accomplished through partnership with different stakeholders from both within and outside of the country.
He made these remarks while attending the matriculation ceremony of Al-Muhibba Open University in Abuja, which was founded by his wife, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed. He praised her for her exceptional performance and commitment to helping others through her numerous programmes and foundations.
Bala Mohammed described his wife as “an anthology of knowledge and wisdom” for her efforts in building secondary and primary schools in Nasarawa State, which have since grown into an Open University.
He expressed satisfaction in her remarkable vision and focus, noting that it reflects good on him, their family, and the entire state, and has the potential to profoundly improve society.
The Governor emphasised that Nigeria’s future rests with enterprising youths, encouraging them to embrace the challenge of self-employment through inventiveness. He also applauded their willingness to contribute to society.
Furthermore, he advised the 105 students admitted to the university to adhere to its tenets and rules, cautioning against engaging in any acts of lawlessness or indiscipline. He encouraged them to embrace dialogue, peaceful coexistence, discipline, and hard work to excel in their academic pursuits.
Bala Mohammed assured students and university administrators of his administration’s continuous commitment to improving teaching and learning.
This assistance includes providing more classroom blocks, laboratories, and ICT facilities in public schools.
He praised the National Universities Commission (NUC), JAMB, and other agencies for their faith and assured them of their ability to provide dependable services for the advancement of mankind and society in general.
Addressing the university’s first matriculation, Minister of Education Tahir Mamman asked Aisha Bala Muhammad, the university’s proprietor and chancellor, to devise creative qualifications. He emphasised the importance of expanding the private school system to suit the educational ambitions of today’s youth.
Mamman emphasised the importance of open distance learning education, stating that it symbolises the future of tertiary education in the country.
He encouraged students to be creative and aggressive in addressing difficulties, including young unemployment, in order to guarantee their future after graduation.
In her remarks, Chancellor Aisha Bala Mohammed remarked that the university’s establishment sought to create greater possibilities for Nigerian women and the underprivileged to pursue higher education. She emphasised that Al-Muhibbah Open University’s knowledge and skills would be in line with global best practices.
In a goodwill letter, JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede congratulated the university’s chancellor on the historic achievement and advised adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
The university’s approved programmes include business administration, economics, accounting, international relations, marketing, project management, entrepreneurship, computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, public health, nursing science, data science and analytics, and healthcare and hospital management.
