42-year-old College of Education, Ikere Ekiti has been upgraded to the University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti by the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
The Governor spoke in Ado Ekiti while signing into law the bill on the upgrade of the College of Education to a University. According to him, the move was part of his administration commitment to the promotion of knowledge in the state.
Fayemi lauded the State House of Assembly led by Funminiyi Afuye on the passage of the bill upgrading the college to a university, saying it showed the commitment of the lawmakers. He further remarked that the passage of the bill by the lawmakers was done in the best interest of the people of Ekiti.
Earlier, the Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, said the bill was one of the 32 passed by the sixth Assembly and signed into law by the governor.
