Heirs Insurance Group Approves N10.5m for National Essay Competition

Heirs Insurance Group has commenced the application process for the fourth edition of its yearly Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, which is aimed at junior secondary school students across the country.
The 2025 edition includes N10.5 million in prizes allocated to the victorious students, educators, and institutions, demonstrating the Group’s dedication to promoting insurance literacy from an early age.
The top student will be awarded a N5 million scholarship, while their school will receive a N1 million education grant. The second and third-place students will earn scholarships of N2 million and N1 million, respectively. Additionally, the application process incorporates insurance-related themes and quizzes to engage students with the concept of insurance early on.
To enter the competition, students are required to write and submit original essays of no more than 500 words on the topic “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure” through the official website. Entries will be accepted between May 27 and July 8, 2025. Every submission will be reviewed by respected academics, with Deloitte & Touche overseeing a quality assurance process to ensure fairness and credibility.
Expanding the programme further, this year introduces the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize, a new segment that honours teachers who actively champion insurance education in schools and local communities.
For the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize (TIAP), the most outstanding teacher will receive a N1 million cash award, and their school will be granted N500,000. To be eligible, teachers must carry out a project related to insurance awareness and provide proof of its execution and influence.
Reflecting on the 2025 competition, Ifesinachi Okpagu, Chief Marketing Officer of Heirs Insurance Group, said, “We are excited to return with an even bigger edition of the Heirs Insurance Essay Championship. This year, we are not only empowering students and their schools, but also shining a light on the critical role teachers play in shaping financially-aware communities.
