JAMB: 379,000 Candidates to Get UTME Resit Results Tomorrow

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that it will make public the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit for 379,000 candidates tomorrow.

There is widespread anticipation among Nigerians awaiting the outcome.

This resit was scheduled in response to numerous complaints about poor performance and technical issues during the first UTME session.

Consequently, JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, after holding talks with relevant parties and offering an apology, decided that a resit was necessary.

This move mostly affected candidates in Lagos as well as those from southeastern Nigeria.

The retaken UTME was conducted over four days, from Friday through Monday.

Among the over 1.9 million candidates who originally participated, upwards of 1.5 million obtained scores under 200 out of 400, triggering concern among educational observers.

From the 1,955,069 candidates whose results were initially processed and issued by JAMB, just 4,756 (representing 0.24%) achieved scores of 320 and above.

In addition, 7,658 candidates (0.39%) attained scores between 300 and 319, making the number of candidates with scores of 300 or more stand at 12,414 (0.63%).

Also, a total of 73,441 candidates (3.76%) scored between 250 and 299, while 334,560 candidates (17.11%) fell within the 200 to 249 range.

An estimated 983,187 candidates (50.29%) posted results between 160 and 199. Another group of 488,197 candidates (24.97%) had scores ranging from 140.

The data further showed that 57,419 candidates (2.94%) scored from 120 to 139, while 3,820 (0.20%) landed between 100 and 119, and just 2,031 candidates (0.10%) had results under 100.
