JAMB Extends Suspension of Law Programme Admissions to Fountain University

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared the suspension of admissions into the Law Faculty at Fountain University, Osogbo, for the 2025/26 academic session due to violations of regulatory guidelines.

This decision was made just two days after the Board announced the suspension of eight universities for exceeding their admission quotas.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, stated that this action was based on an additional submission from the Council of Legal Education (CLE), making Fountain University the ninth institution where JAMB will not process Law programme admissions for the 2025/26 academic session.

JAMB had earlier revealed that it would not facilitate admissions into the Law programme for eight Nigerian universities due to the CLE’s suspension of their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme.

The universities initially affected include: Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State; Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State; Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State.

Additional universities on the list are: Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State; Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State; Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State. Now, Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, has been added as the ninth institution.

“It is important to reiterate that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will last for two academic sessions, specifically the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions, based on the decision of the Council of Legal Education (CLE),” the statement said.
