Jelili, Alimosho LG boss empowers 100 primary school students




Hon Jelili Sulaimon, chairman of Alimosho Local Government, recently celebrated the 2024 graduation of 100 students from local primary schools.

The celebration marked the successful conclusion of a six-month mandatory vocational training program that had been introduced into their curriculum while in Basic 5 and 6.

The graduation ceremony, held at the local government Secretariat in Akowonjo, was attended by community leaders, local government workers, and parents of the graduating students.

According to a statement published by Babatunde Opeyemi Yusuf, Special Assistant on Media to the Chairman, kids throughout primary schools in Alimosho Local Government were given an equitable opportunity to be trained in diverse vocations, including tailoring/fashion designing, barbing, shoe making and hairdressing.

He stated that students came from Akowonjo Primary School, Ebenezer Primary School, Shasha Primary School, African Church Primary School, Abati Primary School, and Rauf Aregbesola Primary School.

He stated that the students were evaluated after the program and 100 successful ones were selected for graduation.

The graduating students, he continued, demonstrated their expertise by plaiting hair, making shoes, sewing clothes, and barbing at the event.

“Encouraged by their reported performance, which has now been proven right, the council boss presented a certificate duly signed by him and a set of complete work tools to each of the 100 pupils.”

Hon (Mrs) Airat Alamu, Executive Secretary of Alimosho Local Government Education Authority, stated in her remarks that the event was the first of its type in Lagos State and a significant step forward for students and communities.

Others who spoke at the event praised the council’s leader for his unwavering efforts to help the younger generation flourish and create a better future for themselves.
