Kebbi First Lady Becomes North West Ambassador of Girl Child Education

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has appointed Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, as the North West Ambassador of Girl Child Education.

The Centre for Islamic Studies at Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, had previously honoured her with the esteemed title of Khadimatul Qur’an.

According to a statement from the First Lady’s Press Secretary, Khadija Said, the ceremony occurred in Birnin Kebbi over the weekend. During the event, the Sultan praised Hajiya Zainab Nasare for her tireless efforts in promoting girl child education throughout the region.

“The Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning And Empowerment, AGILE, has acknowledged the performance of the First Lady and resolved to confer the Ambassadorial status on her,” stated the Sultan, who serves as the Grand Patron of AGILE.

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, also the President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, commended the First Lady’s significant contributions and steadfast support for education in Kebbi State, as well as her initiatives to bring girls back to school.

“We are proud of you and  your activities in education”, 

“We have monitored you keenly and  I believe you deserve the Ambassador for the Girl-Child education to champion the  cause of girl child education  anywhere you go to in  the north western part of the country”,

“Make sure that our girls are back  to the classroom to pursue the acquisition of knowledge to any level they desire”, the Sultan remarked.

In a related development, the Governor’s Wife was conferred with the award of Khadimatul Qur’an  by the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation of Nigeria, Centre For Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodio, University, Sokoto.

“The award was presented to Hajiya Zainab at the closing ceremony of the 39th edition of the National Qur’an Recitation Competition, held at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, hosted by the Kebbi State Government, under Governor Nasir Idris.

“Performing the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor,   Professor Bashar Garba MFR,  expressed profound gratitude to Her Excellency for her steadfast dedication to promoting Islamic values throughout Kebbi State.

“Professor Bashar Garba emphasized that the exemplary leadership of the First Lady has continued to inspire young women to pursue excellence in both religious and secular education.

“Your Excellency, our Mother, your  laudable  endeavour has provided a strong foundation  for young minds  to embrace Qur’anic knowledge, enriching the spiritual fabric in the state”,

“Your outstanding contribution  and unwavering support to the development of Qur’anic and Islamiyyah Schools  in Kebbi State and your effort in advancing the cause of Islam are tremendous”,

“The University is highly appreciative of the dedication of Hajiya Zainab Nasare to the promotion of Islamic values throughout the state”, 

“Your indispensable role  in uplifting the Ummah and preserving the  sanctity  of the Glorious Qur’an is sacrosanct”, the Vice Chancellor added.

The Awardee, Hajiya Zainab Nasare expressed delight  and heartfelt appreciation to the organizers for such remarkable honour  done to her, reaffirming her commitment to prioritizing girl child education and  sustain support towards entrenching moral and spiritual values of Islam in the society.
