Birnin Kebbi (Sundiata Scholar) – The state administration of Kebbi State, in partnership with POBITECH Consultancy Service, has started training 2,400 elementary school teachers in the state, according to Governor Nasir Idris.
The governor, who made this announcement on Tuesday while announcing that the training programme at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, had begun, stated that the programme was a result of the reforms his administration had made to the state education system.
In order to advance the education sector, he urged educators, parents, and other pertinent stakeholders to collaborate with his government.
“Let me use this medium to inform this gathering that I’m going to give more priority to the welfare of teachers. This administration will support Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
“We are going to modify and strengthen its operations to conform with the needs of our society,” he assured.
While urging the participants to be committed to the training, Gov. Idris reiterated his administration’s readiness to key into anything that would promote and project the teaching profession.
Earlier, the Rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Dr Usman Sani-Tunga commended the governor for the initiative, describing training and retraining of teachers as the best way to drive the sector to prosperity.
He gave the state government his word that the institution will make every effort to provide the trainees with high-quality instruction from certified and experienced instructors.
Prof. Suleiman Khalid, the Chairman of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), also spoke, stating that the programme was broken up into six units, each of which had 400 participants.
According to Khalid, the training will cover English language, mathematics, and pedagogical abilities. He also stated that the session would run for two weeks.
