Kunle Olawunmi to Deliver Chrisland University’s Lecture on Nexus Between Governance and Societal Expectations
Former Deputy Chief of Defence Administration, retired Commodore Kunle Olawumi, is scheduled to give a lecture at Chrisland University in Abeokuta on the relationship between governance and social well-being.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at 12 noon. The venue is The Marquee at the University campus on Ajebo Road in Abeokuta.
Olawunmi, an expert in Global Counter-Terrorism, is currently the Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at a university known for its intellectual brightness.
The lecture is the first for the College of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences (CAMASS), which is led by Dean Prof Benjamin O. Olley.
The topic of discourse is: “The Nexus Between Governance and Societal Needs and Peace in Nigeria”
Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, Vice-Chancellor of the University and Chief Host, will chair the academic event.
It should be noted that in 2021, Commodore Olawumi stated in the media that the then-Buhari government was fully aware of people funding the Boko Haram insurgency and banditry in Nigeria but refused to act.
Following this, the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) summoned him for questioning for causing uproar in security circles, an invitation he bravely accepted in the company of his lawyer, Femi Falana.
Before retiring as Deputy Chief of Defence Administration at the DIA in 2016, Olawunmi served as Defence Attache in France and Commandant/Director of Studies: Defence Intelligence College.
It’d be fascinating to hear his thoughts on governance and societal expectations as the country currently groan under the current economic hardships.
