Kwara Secondary School Clash Leaves Several Students Injured
A clash between students from two secondary schools in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has reportedly left multiple students injured.
The altercation, which occurred on Monday around 11:00 a.m., resulted in more than ten students sustaining injuries.
According to an eyewitness, the incident involved students from Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, both located in Adeta.
The confrontation was said to stem from a prior disagreement.
The source stated, “More than ten students were wounded in the melee that threw the area into pandemonium. The issue started about two weeks ago and climaxed with the present situation suspected to be a reprisal attack.”
Some observers have linked the violence to cult-related activities and a struggle for dominance among the students.
When contacted, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Peter Amogbonjaye, indicated that “a statement was on the way over the issue.”
Police spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident and disclosed that several suspects had been arrested in groups during the police’s intervention.
She added that investigations were ongoing to uncover the root cause of the conflict.
