MTN Foundation 2025 Scholarship Program for Nigerian Students

Are you a Nigerian student looking for financial aid to pursue a degree program in Nigeria? If so, here is an opportunity for you. The MTN Scholarships, a key part of the Youth Development Cause, serves as a yearly platform to recognize and support dedicated and high-achieving students in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The scholarship program is divided into three categories, each designed to meet the unique needs of outstanding students:

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)

Since 2010, the MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS) has been available to 300-level students pursuing Science and Technology-related courses in Nigerian Public Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education. Each year, 300 students receive scholarships valued at N300,000, which continues until graduation, provided they meet the required academic performance criteria.

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)

Established in 2012, the MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) aims to assist visually impaired students in 200 and 300-level programs in Nigerian Public Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education. Every year, 100 students are awarded N300,000 in scholarships. The scholarship is renewed annually until graduation, as long as students maintain the necessary academic standards.

Top 10 UTME Scholarship

Launched in 2020, the Top 10 UTME Scholarship automatically grants scholarships to the 10 highest-scoring candidates in UTME, as announced by JAMB. These candidates receive a scholarship of N300,000 from their 100-level year up to graduation, provided they maintain the required grades. This scholarship is awarded regardless of the student’s chosen course or the type of tertiary institution (Public or Private) in Nigeria.

300 students are awarded scholarships worth N300,000.00 until graduation upon meeting grade requirements.

Requirements for MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)

A. Institution of Study
  • MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to Nigerian students in Nigerian Public Tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
B. Course of Study
  • MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to 300 level students studying Science & Technology related courses, in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
C. Level of Study
  • The application is open to students who have completed their second semester 200-level examinations and are going to 300-level, and students currently in their 300-level, as we understand that the academic calendar is not aligned across all public tertiary institutions.
D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
  • STEM Students in Public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper credit)
  • STEM Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
  • Direct Entry level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must have secured admission into the 300 level/3rd year in a Public University.

Requirements for MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)

A. Institution of Study

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to Nigerian students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institution (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). Starting in 2024, the number of blind students to receive scholarships has increased from 60 to 100.

B. Course of Study

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to 200 & 300 level Blind students studying any course in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).

C. Level of Study

The application is open to 200 & 300-level blind students in any Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). However, for blind students studying Law, which is a 5-year course, only 300-level students can apply for the MTN Scholarship.

D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
  • Blind Students in Universities or Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5
  • Blind Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.

The candidates are awarded scholarships worth N300,000.00 from their 100 level through to graduation upon meeting grade requirements.

Requirements for MTN Foundation Top 10 UTME Scholarship

Must be among the top 10 scoring candidates of UTME as announced by JAMB in 2025
