Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to introduce new academic programmes starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.
This approval was conveyed in a memo sent to the Polytechnic’s Rector by the NBTE’s Executive Secretary.
The memo reads, “With reference to the Resources Inspection Visitations carried out by the Board to your institution from 20th to 23rd October, 2024, I am directed to inform you that the Board has granted approval to your institution to offer the following programmes with effect from 2024/2025 session:
- HND Computer Engineering Technology (1 stream of 40 students)
- HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics (1 stream of 40 students)
- ND Banking and Finance (1 stream of 60 students)
- ND Marketing (1 stream of 40 students)
- ND Public Administration (1 stream of 60 students)
- ND Environmental Science and Management Technology (1 stream of 60 students)
- HND Artificial Intelligence (1 stream of 40 students)
Admission of students into the programmes should commence from the 2024/2025 session, otherwise the approval lapses and admission would only be allowed to take place after a fresh resource inspection visitation is carried out at the instance of the institution.
The approved programmes will be due for full accreditation visitation when the first sets of students are in the fourth semester of studies. It is the responsibility of the institution to invite the Board to carry out the full accreditation exercise when due, as failure to do so within the specified period will disqualify it from making further admission into the programmes. Please accept the assurances of the Executive Secretary’s highest regards.”
