Nigerian Universities Offering Admission Without JAMB for the 2025/2026 Academic Session

Nigerian students hoping to secure admission into universities across the country often face the difficult task of passing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is conducted by The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The pressure to achieve a high score can be overwhelming; however, there are other available routes to obtain a university degree in Nigeria.

Below are three universities that offer admission opportunities to students with or without “JAMB” for the 2025/2026 academic year.

National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)

Applicants are not obligated to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to gain admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

However, some recent information indicates that applicants may now be required to register with “JAMB” as part of the formal admission process and to align with national educational regulations, though they are not required to sit for the “JAMB” examination itself.

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is a federally-owned institution that delivers its academic programmes through distance learning. Established in 1983, the university was designed to make higher education accessible to Nigerians who are unable to attend conventional universities.

Madonna University, Okija

Madonna University does not mandate the submission of UTME scores or minimum cut-off marks for admission. Prospective students who wish to apply to Madonna University must possess at least five O’level credits in relevant subjects, complete the registration process, pay the specified fees for the admission screening, and successfully pass either the screening test or an interview.

This institution holds the distinction of being Nigeria’s first Catholic university. Its campuses are home to various Faculties and Departments.

The Okija campus, located in Anambra State, hosts Faculties including Management and Social Sciences, Arts and Education, and Law.

The Elele campus accommodates Faculties focused on Medicine, Surgery, and Pharmacology. The Akpugo campus houses the Faculty of Engineering. Each campus features a central library, in addition to libraries that are directly attached to specific Faculties and Departments.

Lead City University

Lead City University does not make it compulsory for prospective students to take the UTME. Students may be admitted through qualifications such as GCE ‘A’ Levels, IJMB, JUPEB, NCE, and OND. The submission of “JAMB” results is not a mandatory requirement.

Lead City University offers a wide range of academic programmes that cater to both young students and working adults.

The university recognises the importance of flexibility, particularly for individuals with busy schedules, and therefore provides options for either full-time or part-time study.

Courses are offered through specialised faculties, which include the Faculties of Social Sciences & Entrepreneurial Studies, Information Technology and Applied Sciences, and Law.

The university continues to play a leading role in integrating the latest innovations within Information Technology and Management education.
