The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has increased the admission quota for the Faculty of Nursing at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, from 190 to 300 every session.
Tunde Olofintila, Director of ABUAD Corporate Affairs, stated in a statement on Sunday that the news was given in a letter dated July 18, 2024, from Council’s Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Faruk Abubakar, headlined “Increase in students’ enrolment into the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD.”
According to Olofintila, the NMCN boss stated that “ABUAD is one of the standout institutions with several highly qualified (Nursing) lecturers who provide high-quality nursing education to students. The university has well-equipped facilities and resources, including clinical sites for effective practical training experience for students.
“Leveraging on these strengths, I am pleased to inform you officially of the increase in students’ enrolment to 300 (from 190) students into the nursing programme of the Faculty of Nursing, ABUAD. The council is confident that the dedicated faculty at ABUAD will effectively accommodate this increase while maintaining the high regulatory standards expected.”
According to Olofintila, Abubakar expressed confidence that increasing the faculty’s admission quota will broaden access to nursing education for aspiring individuals in society.
Afe Babalola, ABUAD’s Chancellor expressed his delight saying, “The university is living to his vision of establishing a university that will institutionalise quality and functional education, teach Nigerians how a university should be run and raise a new generation of leaders that will change the society for the better.”
During the 9th induction ceremony of 95 graduating students from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences in Ado-Ekiti, Babalola stated, “Since our maiden convocation in October 2013, we have produced 1,420 graduates. They are not only doing well, but they are also agents and leaders of reformation.”
