The 25 courses that the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba, submitted to the National Universities Commission (NUC), the governing body, have been given the go-ahead to begin operations.
This achievement has made it possible for the institution to begin admitting students as a prelude to the starting of classes.
At a special Thanksgiving ceremony held at ECWA Church in Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Area Traditional Council, announced this.
Oba Owoniyi claimed that Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the state governor, had told him that contractors were working on the university site to get it ready for classes to start.
The traditional ruler claims that the governor also pledged his administration’s support for a flawless institution launch prior to the incoming government taking office next month.
In order to that goal, he announced that the university has been granted a special allocation of N200 million every month, and that disbursement has begun immediately.
The monarch added that Governor Bello further pledged his steadfast support for the organisation even after his term was up.
He claimed that the government’s thoughtful response to the Okunland people’s need for higher education was the foundation of the university.
In order for the institution to stand tall among its contemporaries, Oba Owoniyi made a plea to all parties involved for their support.
