NUC grants accreditation to 17 programmes at Sa’adu Zungur University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the accreditation of 17 academic programmes at Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Bauchi State.

Auwal Hassan, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, described the development as a significant achievement for the university and proof of the school’s dedication to academic excellence and high-quality education.

The NUC, which oversees universities in the country, granted accreditation for programmes in multiple faculties and departments — among them Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Agriculture, Arabic, Human Physiology, Public Health, Anatomy, Law, Pharmacy, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Science Laboratory Technology, and Zoology.

Professor Fatimah Tahir, the university’s vice chancellor, remarked that this round of accreditations marks progress in realizing the school’s goal of academic distinction.

She praised the efforts and unwavering support of Governor Bala Mohammed towards the university’s development.

Courses that received accreditation include Accounting (Full), Business Administration (Full), Public Administration (Full), Agriculture (Full), Arabic (Full), Human Physiology (Full), Public Health (Interim), Anatomy (Full), Law (Full), Pharm D (Interim), Botany (Full), Chemistry (Full), Mathematics (Full), Microbiology (Full), Physics (Full), Science Laboratory Technology (Full), and Zoology (Full).

The accreditation process followed an evaluation visit by the NUC to the university last November, and the commission only recently conveyed the results to the institution’s management.

“This accreditation is seen as a major breakthrough for SAZU, enabling it to compete with its counterparts in the country. The university remains committed to providing quality education and producing graduates who can make a positive impact in society,” the PRO said.
