The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the release of N713 million for the 2024 bursary award aimed at supporting students of Delta State origin studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Asaba, the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, confirmed that the scheme will benefit eligible students in public and private universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education, schools of nursing science, and other tertiary institutions, including military and paramilitary academies.
Dr. Enita disclosed that a total of 32,028 students are expected to receive assistance under the 2024 Students Special Assistance Scheme (Bursary Award).
“This uncommon gesture by Governor Oborevwori should be applauded because it demonstrates his magnanimity and goodwill towards the well-being of Delta State students and youths in general,” Dr. Enita stated.
He further highlighted the governor’s dedication to advancing education through various forms of financial support and extensive infrastructural development in schools across the state.
“It also underscores his commitment towards educational advancement through financial assistance to students in diverse forms and through massive infrastructural development in schools across Delta State,” the statement added.
Dr. Enita expressed confidence that the beneficiaries of the bursary programme would continue to represent Delta State as “worthy ambassadors” wherever they go.
