As Osun State joined the global celebration of ‘Teacher’s Day’, the Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, The Rt. Revd. Isaac Oluyamo, has urged governments to prioritize teachers’ welfare.
At a special prayer program held at Rehoboth Mountain, Ijebu-Jesa in Osun State, Oluyamo emphasized the importance of proper care for teachers, including timely salary payments, proper remuneration, and improved working and living conditions.
“I implore governments to ensure teachers’ salaries are paid promptly and provide adequate benefits,” Oluyamo said. “Loan schemes for cars and housing, allowances, and promotions would greatly enhance their job stability and comfort.”
The Bishop also addressed the current economic challenges, citing the fuel price hike’s impact on Nigerians’ livelihoods. “The Federal Government must find ways to alleviate the suffering caused by the fuel price increase,” he added.
While congratulating teachers on their special day, Oluyamo encouraged them to emulate Jesus’ teaching standards and legacy, demonstrating dedication and commitment to their profession.
He commended Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s efforts in improving teachers’ welfare and the education sector development.
