According to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Osun State has the highest number of students applying for student loans.
Mr. Sawyer Akintude, the Managing Director, made the announcement yesterday in Osogbo during a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s office.
He stated, “I can tell you today that Osun State has the highest number of students in our database today.”
“This means if all the eligible students apply, Osun State will have the highest number of beneficiaries. This is why we are reaching out to the state.
“The education loan fund is not for political gains or that those of us saddled with the responsibility are there to make any gain, but to ensure many poor students and all intending students benefit from the scheme.”
Governor Adeleke praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s student loan programme and encouraged NELFUND to ensure that the plan does not become a debt trap for beneficiaries, as it has in the United States.
