LOKOJA ( Sundiata Post) – The Vice-Chancellor, Salem University Lokoja, Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, says the target of the school is to set the pace for the training Nigerian youths into future leaders.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) said this in Lokoja as part of 16th anniversary of the institution.
Johnson-Akubo said the vision of the Founder and Chancellor of the University, Arch Bishop Sam Amaga, had helped in shaping the institution as the citadel of learning in Nigeria.
“Today, the entire management, staff, students and graduates of this citadel of learning are celebrating the chancellor and how far the institution has gone educationally.
“Arc Bishop Sam Amaga is an iconic leader, strong exemplary pillar of the Christian faith and a philanthropist per excellence that the people of Kogi and Nigeria should be proud of.
“This is because Salem University, established 16 years ago, gives the Nigerian youths the opportunity to study in various fields to fulfill their God’s given destinies.
“Today, through the efforts of our chancellor, virtually all our programmes have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC),’’ he said.
Johnson-Akubo added: “Again, God has helped our university to record a very strong showing in what easily became the largest and most diverse university ranking in the world, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. ”
The VC said that Amaga had touched many lives especially the vulnerable and the less privileged in the society through Salem University.
‘’More than 150 indigent students have benefited from his benevolent through scholarships and have graduated from the university as change agents who could impact positively in the global economy,’’ he said. (NAN)
