Plateau State University Educates Staff on Automated Library System
Plateau State University, Bokkos, has organized an internal training session for its library personnel as part of preparations for automating the university’s library, a project supported by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund).
The session, the third in a series, aimed to equip the library staff with essential skills for efficiently using the automated library system.
This new system will allow library users to access academic resources digitally, overcoming geographical constraints at the university.
During his presentation titled “Repositioning Plateau State University Library for Effective Service Delivery in the 4th Industrial Revolution Era,” the Librarian, Associate Prof. Shehu Aladeh, highlighted the significance of adopting technological innovations.
He pointed out that the library has undergone considerable transformation from traditional methods to the digital era.
Aladeh reassured attendees that the university is dedicated to investing in technology to improve access to online materials, such as journals and seminar papers.
The Librarian encouraged the staff to stay flexible in adapting to the evolving technological environment, stressing the importance of human resource development before the automation.
Dr. Cletus Audu, a Senior Lecturer from the Department of Library and Information Services, praised the Librarian for organizing the training.
The training event was attended by faculty members, including Prof. Ishaya Dashol, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and a representative from the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences.
These advancements represent a crucial milestone in the university’s aim to shift from analog to digital methods, further solidifying its standing as a center for academic excellence.
