Plateau University matriculates 4,000 students




JOS (Sundiata Scholar) – On Wednesday, 4,000 new students were admitted to the faculties and departments of Plateau University, Bokkos, for the 2022–2023 and 2023–2024 academic years.

Prof. Bernard Matur, the university’s vice-chancellor, commended the students on being the fortunate ones to be admitted during his speech at the occasion on Wednesday in Jos.

Matur urged the students to abstain from all social vices while they are enrolled in university courses.

”It is a privilege that you are admitted out of the thousands that applied to be students in this university. I congratulate you all.

”I urge all of you to take advantage of the best opportunity to access premium quality and affordable education in this great institution.

”You should embrace hard work and exhibit quality attitudes at all times,” he said.

He informed parents and guardians that their children were at the right place to receive an excellent education and stated that the institution’s mission was to develop young people in both learning and character.

He went on to reassure parents that their children were safe, saying that his administration had taken strong precautions to protect the lives and belongings of the school’s employees and pupils.

The vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his steadfast support of the university’s expansion and advancement as well as the advancement of education in general.

The freshly matriculated pupils were also congratulated by Mr. Gabriel Dawan, Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly.

He also praised the state’s governor for working to ensure that the state offers high-quality education.

As a former student of the university, Dewan pledged to back the governor in his efforts to set the state up for long-term growth and development.

The state’s commissioner of higher education, Dr. Kachollom Gang, gave the new students the most encouraging advice, urging them to take their studies very seriously.
