Bertrand Onuoha, the Kogi State Police Commissioner, has confirmed the killing of two Confluence State University students who were recently abducted in the state’s Osara area.
When asked to corroborate the killing, he merely replied, “Yes, two of them were found to have been shot this morning.”
The police commissioner did not, however, provide further details while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Lokoja, the state capital.
He stated that an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding their murder is still ongoing.
It was alleged that an undetermined number of students from the university were kidnapped two weeks ago while preparing for their first-semester examination, which was set for last Monday.
However, 21 of them were rescued by the combined team of police and local vigilantes.
Meanwhile, a Non Governmental Organisation, Education for All, had earlier given the names of the two students killed as James Anajuwe, a 100-level Information Technology student, and Musa Hussein, a 100-level Software Engineering student of the university.
