The Federal Government of Nigeria have reportedly agreed to pay the salaries of private school teachers that are being owed by schools as a result of COVID-19.
This was announced by the President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Yomi Otubela during an appearance on TVC news channel on Monday, July 13, 2020.
According to Otubela, a proposal was presented to the Economic Sustainability Committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after a cry for help by teachers of private schools who have not been paid by their management, since March when schools were shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Federal Executive Council have granted approval for the proposal and only private schools registered under the association will benefit from the Federal government’s bailout.
