The Kaduna State Government, under Governor Uba Sani, has unveiled plans in collaboration with international organisations to construct 102 new schools, renovate 170 existing ones, and reintegrate 200,000 out-of-school children into the education system.
Ezra Angai, the Project Coordinator of Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROSC), emphasised the administration’s dedication to ensuring “quality and affordable education for every child” during an advocacy visit to the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
Speaking with Honourable Liman Dahiru, Angai highlighted the government’s commitment to tackling the issue of out-of-school children.
The initiative is being carried out in partnership with global bodies such as the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Education Above All (EAA), Save the Children International (SCI), and UNICEF.
According to Angai, this collaboration underscores the state’s resolve to provide educational opportunities for all children.
Angai explained that the project, aimed at significantly reducing the number of out-of-school children, reflects Governor Uba Sani’s prioritisation of education.
The initiative, which will span a four-year period, will be implemented across the state’s 23 local government areas.
Its primary objectives include improving educational access by constructing 102 new schools and renovating 170 existing facilities.
