Schools in Imo State remain closed until further notice
Imo State has disclosed that schools in the state remain closed at the moment pending the outcome of the Community testing for COVID-19 in all the 27 LGAs in the Three (3) Senatorial Zones of Imo state.
This was contained in a statement from the Ministry of Education in the state. The memo reads,
The memo reads, “I am directed by the Imo State Executive Council (EXCO) to inform you that:
1. No School: Nursery, Primary, Secondary, or Tertiary is permitted to re-open in Imo State.
2. That the Hon, Commissioner for Health has been mandated to expeditiously conclude Community testing for Covid-19 in all the27 LGAS in the Three (3) Senatorial Zones of Imo state and provide the results to EXCO as soon 35 possible.
3. That Schools will only be allowed to re-open by the “Exclusive” authorization of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, and His Excellency’s decision to re-open schools will be based on positive result and report of the Community Testing being undertaken, as stated above by the Hon. Commissioner for Health.
4. That Schools in Imo State will re-open when His Excellency, the Governor. finally approves the resumption of schools. In this regard, all Schools MUST complete and fulfill UNICEF, WHO, Covid-19 Taskforce, and the Federal Ministry of Education Protocols.”
