The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM offers academic scholarships for full-time, one- or two-year master’s degree programmes in specific fields of study in Sweden.
With a strong focus on sustainability, Sweden provides an exceptional educational experience, blending world-class learning with cutting-edge innovation. This scholarship supports various English-taught master’s programmes across key disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The Swedish Institute (SI) aims through this scholarship to promote a more diverse and equitable STEM field, fostering a network of future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and advance growth in their home countries.
The scholarship is open to female citizens from eligible countries and applies to specific master’s programmes beginning in the autumn semester. A full list of eligible programmes will be available on November 1, 2024.
Benefits of Swedish Institute Masters Scholarship
The SI scholarship Pioneering women in STEM is a competitive, fully-funded scholarship that includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.
- A monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
- A travel grant of SEK 15,000. This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
- After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.
Requirements for Swedish Institute Masters Scholarship
To be considered for the SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM, you must:
- Be a female citizen of one of the 10 eligible countries (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam).
- Follow the steps of University Admissions and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programmes on the day of admissions announcements.
- The scholarship is available for designated master’s programmes in STEM, focusing on one or more core areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Timeline
- 15 October 2024–15 January 2025: Application round to Swedish master’s programmes through University Admissions open.
- 3 February 2025: Deadline for application fee and submission of supporting documentation to University Admissions.
- 27 March 2025: University Admissions announcement day.
- 24 April 2025: SI Scholarship announcement day.

To apply for the 2025 Swedish Institute Women in STEM Scholarship, interested candidates should;
- Select a master´s program.

- Apply for the master’s program through universityadmissions.se.
- When you have applied for one, or more, of the designated master’s programs through University Admissions and fulfill all criteria, you are automatically considered for the scholarship.
