TETFUND commends TASUED for effective project implementation

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Southwest Zone has praised the administration of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, for efficiently using TETFund disbursements and delivering high-standard projects.

During a recent tour and familiarisation visit to the university, this praise was offered by the Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees representing the Southwest Zone, Hon. Sunday Adepoju.

Hon. Adepoju acknowledged TASUED’s compliance with TETFund guidelines and highlighted that both completed and in-progress projects demonstrate superior quality and sound supervision.

He shared his satisfaction at visiting TASUED’s campus for the first time, confessing that he had previously underestimated the institution, viewing it merely as a College of Education.

But after viewing the facilities and observing the institution’s educational and skills-based advancements, he described TASUED as a modern and forward-looking university.

“I am very pleased with what I’ve seen here. Let me state it categorically: there are no abandoned projects here in TASUED. In fact, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there had to be an upward review of the cost of some of the projects, and the university management had to raise money from internally generated funds to complete the projects. I am impressed,” Hon Adepoju noted.

“If I had my way, I would propose that TASUED be renamed the Federal University of Technical Education, because the institution is clearly a pacesetter for other universities, particularly in the area of vocational training. I am truly impressed by what I’ve seen, and I am deeply interested,” he added.

Hon. Adepoju explained that the visit aimed not only to familiarise the delegation with the university’s environment but also to examine how earlier allocated funds had been applied.

He said the assessment also focused on reviewing the institution’s upkeep practices, pinpointing abandoned or active projects, and recommending actions for timely and impactful completion.

Hon. Adepoju reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication, under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to revamp the education sector via numerous policies and initiatives as outlined in the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’

He gave assurance to the university community that he would keep delivering solid leadership and continue to promote national harmony while pushing for fair development throughout the Southwest region.

The TETFund team’s visit served as an opportunity to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of its investments in the university.

The vice chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo, received Hon. Sunday Adepoju, Chairman of the TETFund Board of Trustees for the Southwest Zone, who headed the delegation on the inspection and familiarisation tour.

The vice chancellor extended deep gratitude to the delegation for their lasting support and targeted assistance, which he said had played a major role in enhancing the university’s progress and in promoting education across Nigeria.

He stressed that TETFund’s dedication to providing infrastructure, advancing staff capacity, and supporting research has boosted TASUED’s ability to achieve its mission.

Other Principal Officers who accompanied Prof. Banjo to receive the guests were the Registrar, Mr. Dapo Oke, FCIA, MANUPA; the Bursar, Mr. Kabiru Ogunleye, FCAI; the Acting Librarian, Mr. Omotayo Quadri; the Director, Works & Services, Mr. Sunday Williams, among others

On the entourage of the TETFund team were Engr. Taiwo Lukman, the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, and Arch. Musa Okunlola.
