TETFUND completes 687 projects within two years

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has completed no fewer than 687 capital projects across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria over the past two years.

The Executive Secretary of the fund, Mr Sonny Echono, made this known during the foundation-laying ceremony for the ₦4 billion Senate Building at the Federal University of Kashere (FUK) on Friday.

Echono explained that the projects align with the current administration under President Bola Tinubu, whose aim is to enhance the quality of tertiary education in the country by providing appropriate infrastructure.

He stated that President Tinubu had approved the Senate Building project at FUK as part of his strategic commitment to investing in higher education.

“TETFund remains firmly committed to supporting institutions like FUK with the necessary resources to grow and thrive.

“In the last two and a half years alone, we have completed and inaugurated 687 capital projects in various higher institutions across Nigeria,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUK, Prof. Umaru Pate, praised TETFUND for approving the Senate Building project, and revealed that the fund had also completed the postgraduate hostel building at the university under the 2022 TETFUND annual intervention.

He further mentioned the construction of a 500-capacity lecture theatre, the building and furnishing of the College of Medical Sciences Complex, as well as several other interventions provided by the fund.

In his remarks, President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, and who laid the foundation stone for the ₦4 billion Senate Building at the university, reiterated his administration’s dedication to broadening access to quality higher education throughout Nigeria.

He stated that universities not only foster academic excellence but also act as drivers of socio-economic development.
