TETFund establishes laboratories to end overseas sample testing

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) announced that its newly created multidisciplinary research laboratories will allow researchers to carry out all forms of research within the country, removing the necessity of sending samples abroad for testing.

It stated that six of these laboratories are being set up nationwide.

The Executive Secretary of the Fund, Sunny Echono, made this known yesterday in Abuja while hosting the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), headed by its President, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi.

He explained that while four of these advanced facilities are presently under construction in Port Harcourt, Kano, Abuja, and Lagos, work on two additional ones will begin before the year ends.

Echono, who previously served as the 28th President of the Institute, also pledged to rally the agency’s associates to support the furnishing of the Institute’s Resource and Exhibition Centre, which is currently under construction, as requested by the President.

The head of TETFund also instituted an annual award at the Institute’s Architecture Annual Awards, as well as the sponsorship of the publication of its journal, among other initiatives.

He disclosed that the agency is preparing to inaugurate remarkable projects across the nation, noting that four of these will be unveiled in Kano and Osun states before the end of the month.

He remarked: “The biggest observation that was made when I came in here is the fact that we were dotting our campuses with all sorts of blocks, and we’re now transiting to iconic buildings.”
