A former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura, has been named as the chairman of the governing board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

President Bola Tinubu appointed the former governor as the new chairman of the UBEC governing board.

The appointment of Al-Makura was confirmed by Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, during the launch of the AFD-supported ICT Development Project in ten selected Nigerian universities.
