TRCN Registrar urges Ondo University lecturers to learn about digital technology

Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, Registrar/Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), has advised newly inducted academics at Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo to learn more about digital technology in order to compete globally.

Ajiboye gave the advice during the school’s second induction ceremony for holders of NCE, B.ED, B.Sc Edu, PDE, M.Sc (Edu) and M.Ed degrees, describing teaching as a lucrative, noble career that is actively involved in nation building.

The esteemed scholar advised the inductees to always strive for self-improvement by improving their skills in the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT), claiming that this would allow them to compete well with their counterparts throughout the world.

The TRCN Registrar/Chief Executive highlighted several opportunities available to teachers in Africa and other countries of the world, stating that presently, more than 45 million teachers are currently needed globally.

He, therefore, admonished the inductees to use the knowledge acquired during the training to improve their lots and said: “Take the certificate given to you to any part of the world, you are going to be recognized. “With our certificate and license, you are free to practice in any part of the globe.”

Dr. Samuel Akintunde, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, praised the occasion as a watershed moment that demonstrates the TRCN’s dedication to excellence, professionalism, and the advancement of the teaching profession.

The Acting University Administrator thanked the inductees and encouraged them to apply the knowledge they gained throughout their training to mentor, guide, and nurture students who would be under their supervision.

Akintunde also challenged them to uphold the teaching profession’s ethics by demonstrating integrity, innovation, diversity, and embracing continual learning to improve services.

Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, the Acting Registrar of AFUED, further challenged the inductees to sustain the standard of the teaching profession and to seek continual knowledge acquisition by “attending professional development programmes within and outside the country.”

Eminent personalities, including Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, Registrar/Chief Executive TRCN; Principal Officers of the University, including Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Samuel Akintunde; Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Acting Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; and Acting Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) A. F. Afolabi, attended the event, which was held at the University’s Olusegun Obasanjo auditorium.

Mr. Akande Adesina, Ondo State Coordinator, TRCN, was also present, as was Dr. Mrs. Oyenike Oyinloye, Sub-Dean Faculty of Education AFUED, and staff from the Directorate of Exams and Records, including Assistant Deputy Registrar Mrs. Olaitan Taiwo, Mrs. Imoisili Happiness Akunna, Mrs. Olakanye Anike Omolara, and Mr. Adedugbagbe Felix.

Others who observed the occasion were staff from the University’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Department of Music, and President of the student union AFUED, Comrade Okunade Ibrahim to mention but few.
