Trinity Varsity Pro-Chancellor, celebrates 70th with double book launch

LAGOS (Sundiata Scholar) – Mr Samuel Olatunji, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Trinity University (TU), Yaba, on Sunday celebrated his 70th birthday with the unveiling of two books in Lagos.

The works – Business Hymn Book and Singing with David, were unveiled at a ceremony held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Dominion Sanctuary, Ogba, Ikeja.

In his remarks, Olatunji expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life, recalling that he had escaped death more than 12 times.

He said the books were inspired by his personal journey and served as a testimony of thanksgiving.

The celebrant praised his wife for her steadfast support, describing her as ‘like a mother’, and commended his children for their career achievements and for bringing honour to the family.

He also lauded the staff of TU for their hard work and resilience, while appreciating the spiritual guidance of renowned church leaders such as Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the RCCG and Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel.

In his goodwill message, Adeboye described Olatunji as a vessel through whom many people had come to know Christ.

Oyedepo, also praised his consistency in walking with God, calling his life a reflection of divine grace.

The sermon was delivered by Rev. Moses Aransiola, General Overseer of Gethsemane Prayer Ministries International, who stressed the value of time as a ‘perishable gift that cannot be recycled’.

Aransiola said Olatunji’s 70 years amounted to 25,622 days, each of which deserved intentional thanksgiving.

He urged the congregation to reflect on how they use their time on earth.

In a tribute, Olatunji’s wife described him as a man of faith, strength and philanthropy, while his first son, Mr. Samuel Olatunji Jnr, called him a visionary who had made sacrifices to support the less privileged.

The Alaran of Arandun, Oba Ibikunle Adekanye, hailed him as a man of humility and faith, noted his contributions to education, scholarships and youth empowerment in his community.

The ceremony was attended by family, friends, colleagues, clerics and dignitaries, who paid glowing tributes to the celebrant. (NAN)
