The promotion of twenty-three academic staff members to the rank of professor has been accepted by the University of Abuja’s management.
Ten employees were promoted to associate professor, while thirteen employees were made professors.This was said in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by Dr. Habib Yakoob, acting director of information and university relations.
Yakoob revealed that at the 80th regular meeting of the Appointment and Promotion Committee (A&PC), which took place on Friday, June 16, 2023, the university authorised the staff members’ promotions.He said that, pending a positive external evaluation, the Council had previously reviewed and authorised the staff members’ advancement to the professorial status.
He stated that the university requested authority from the Ministry of Education to release the promotion to the recipients after receiving assessments, contingent on the Governing Council’s ratification upon its formation.
“The exercise reveals that the academic staff were promoted across several disciplines, which include education foundation, medical microbiology, geography, environmental science, history and diplomatic studies, and soil science.
“Microbiology and parasitology, veterinary medicine, chemical engineering, public administration, biochemistry, obstetrics, and geology, as well as Christian religious studies, were among the other disciplines,” he said.

The vice chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, congratulated the recently promoted staff members and characterized them as dedicated scholars who were dedicated to the progress of knowledge in their respective domains of expertise.
