UNICAL 33rd Convocation Ceremony Events and Instructions To Graduands
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Zana Itiunbe Akpagu, on behalf of the Council, Senate, Staff, and Students of the University of Calabar cordially invites the General public to the 33rd Convocation Ceremony for the conferment of Diplomas, First Degrees, Higher Degrees and award of Honorary Degrees and prizes to deserving graduands of the University for 2018/2019 academic years scheduled to hold as follows below:
UNICAL 33rd Convocation Ceremony has been scheduled to hold from Tuesday, 10th March, 2020 – Saturday 14th March, 2020.
Venue: Abraham Ordia Stadium, UNICAL
Time: 10:00am
Convocation for the award of Diplomas & First Degrees Graduands is billed for Friday, 13th March,2020 whereas that of; Post Graduate Diplomas, Higher Degrees, Honorary Degrees and presentation of prizes has been scheduled for Saturday, 14th March 2020.

Event: Press Conference by the Vice-Chancellor

DAY 2: WEDNESDAY, 11TH MARCH, 2020
Event: Inter-Denominational Service
Venue: Unical International Conference Centre

DAY 3: THURSDAY, 12TH MARCH, 2020
1st Event: Research Fair and Exhibitions
Venue: Tennis Court

2nd Event: Convocation Lecture
Convocation Lecturer: Prof. Anthony Nyong

2nd Event: Convocation for the Award of Higher Degrees/Conferment of Honorary Degrees/Induction into Unical Alumni/Endowment fund launching.
Time: 10.00 a.m.

Collection of Gowns
Graduands are required to obtain their convocation gown from their respective Faculty Officers on the payment of a deposit of N4,000.00 (Four Thousand Naira only).
A refund of N1,000.00(Two Thousand Naira) will be made on the return of the Gown.
Gowns not returned by March 18, 2020 will attract a fine of N1,000,00 per day.
For Post Graduate School Graduands, the following will apply:
(i) Outright Purchase of Academic Gowns
(a) Ph.D gowns = N59,500.00 each
(b) Masters gowns = N30,000.00 each
(ii) Hiring of Academic Gowns
Masters/PGDs gowns = N12,500.00 each
Please note that all academic gowns hired from the Graduate School must be returned within seven (7) days from the date of the convocation. Defaulters will be sanctioned as appropriate.
B. Invitation Cards to Parents/Guardians
Two invitation cards will be issued to every Graduand by the Faculty Officers. Each Graduand is therefore entitled to two guests only.
C. Procession
The Convocation Procession will adhere strictly to the Keffi Protocol for the conduct of Convocation.
Graduands should robe and join the procession in their various Faculties. Graduands who do not robe will not be allowed into the convocation grounds. Photographers will not be allowed at the procession. All photographs will be taken after the convocation.
D. Prizes and Awards
Prizes and Awards will be announced during the convocation. Recipients will collect their awards/prize value on presentation of a letter of award at the University Bursary.
E. Alumni Membership Registration
Graduands will be expected to complete registration forms for alumni membership from their Faculty Officers and pay membership registration fee.
