UNILAG announces post-UTME screening, eligibility criteria

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka management has announced the start of online registration for this year’s post-UTME screening for prospective students seeking admission to all of its undergraduate courses and programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The university has also established eligibility criteria for screening and admission.

Mrs Olakunle Makinde, the university’s interim registrar, made the announcement in a statement released by the institution’s spokesperson, Mrs Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, on Friday.

According to the registrar, registration for the screening, which is completely online and will cost each applicant N2,000, will begin on Monday, August 5th and end on Friday, August 23rd, while the post-UTME online aptitude test will take place between Monday, 2nd of September and Friday, 6th of September.

She stated that applicants who made UNILAG their first choice in the recent UTME and scored 200 or higher are eligible to apply for the screening. Furthermore, to be considered for admission, eligible candidates must have five credit passes at one sitting in relevant O/level subjects such as English Language and Mathematics, and they must have uploaded their O/Level results to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) by September 9th, 2024.

She noted further that “Candidates, who will not be up to 16 years of age by 31st of October, 2024 are not eligible and therefore need not apply and those who do not participate in the Post-UTME Online Aptitude test will not also be considered for admission.

“Former students of the university whose admissions were withdrawn on the basis of poor academic performance or absence status could re-apply on condition that the new admission shall be for a new programme/course different from the former programme/course.

“Any student expelled from the university cannot be offered fresh admission and anyone tested positive for drugs will not also be admitted or to forfeit admission if such detection takes place after admission had been offered.”

While stating that further details about the registration procedure are on the school’s website, www.unilag.edu.ng, she said UNILAG has zero tolerance for drug abuse and other social vices.
