UNIPORT begins process to elect new varsity representatives

PORT HARCOURT (Sundiata Scholar) – The University of Port Harcourt has announced the commencement of elections to appoint new representatives to its Governing Council, Boards, and Committees.

Dr Sam Kpenu, Head of Information, Publication, and Public Relations at the institution disclosed this to journalist in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

He stated that the election, scheduled for April 17, would fill key representative positions within the university’s administrative structure.

“The election, which marks the end of the four-year tenure of the current representatives, will take place during the university’s 77th Meeting of Congregation.

“The exercise will elect new Representatives of Congregation into the Governing Council, Boards, and Committees,” he said.

Kpenu noted that 16 different boards and committees within the university would be involved in the election.

These include the Governing Council; Academic and Senior Professionals, Administrative and Technical Staff (SPAT); Capital/Procurement Committee, University Press, and the Health and Medical Services Advisory Board, among others.

“A total of 32 representatives are expected to be elected to the various committees, with positions distributed across academic, administrative, and technical staff categories,” Kpenu concluded. (NAN)
