University of Calabar Cancels Post-UTME Screening, Shifts to O’ Level Point Grading System

In a significant change to the 2024/2025 admissions process, the University of Calabar has announced the cancellation of its previously scheduled Post-UTME screening exercise, opting instead for an O’ Level point grading system. This decision comes amidst escalating concerns over the high cost of transportation, accommodation, logistics, and the current security situation in the country.

According to an official statement released by the University’s Registrar, Gabriel O. Egbe, the Post-UTME screening, which was set to begin on Monday, August 26, 2024, will no longer take place. The University has decided to base the 2024/2025 admissions on the O’ Level grades of candidates who have selected the University of Calabar as their first choice. These candidates are now required to upload their O’ Level results at the nearest JAMB-CBT center for the University’s consideration.

In light of this change, the University has extended the deadline for Post-UTME registration by one week, setting a final deadline for registration on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Candidates who have not yet registered are urged to use this opportunity as there will be no further extensions, and the registration portal will be permanently closed after this date.

The University expressed regret for any inconvenience this change may cause to applicants but emphasized that the decision was made in the best interest of all stakeholders.
